During 13th – 16th February 2020 Stone Town, Zanzibar will be buzzing with live music from across the African continent.
The full line up of artists and events will be announced in October. Over four days and nights the festival will feature:
- 3 Live Stages: 400+ musicians, 40 shows over 4 days and nights
- Swahili Encounters: Local and visiting musicians exchange and collaborate
- Movers & Shakers: Networking for music industry professionals
- Busara Xtra: Fringe events, as organized by the local community
Final Call for Artists
Sauti za Busara showcases live, original musical from the African Continent and diaspora. Artists from the Arab World and Indian Ocean region are also welcome to apply.
The deadline for completed artists’ applications to reach Busara Promotions is midnight (EAT) on 31 July 2019. See here for more information and link to application form
Preference is given to:
- Original music with cultural identity, connected to Africa, the Arab World or Indian Ocean
- Women artists, or groups led by women
- Young, new and emerging talents
- Music with messages that are positive, relevant and useful for society
- Artists with profile on Music in Africa portal
- Music that is performed live!
Sauti za Busara is partnering with Music in Africa as the official online platform hosting artists’ profiles, music, videos, photos and links.
Artists receive editorial support from the Music in Africa team to guarantee their profiles are to professional standards, improving their chances to be selected.
The selection committee meets in August to finalize the line-up.
All applicants will be notified of outcomes before September.
NOTE: Artists from outside the region are usually required to find their own travel sponsors.
