Two days ago, on Channels TV Entertainment News, I heard that rapper, Babalola Falemi aka. Sinzu aka Sauce Kid has been arrested by the American authorities and jailed for two years for aggravated identity theft.
According to reports, he encoded the bank numbers into blank cards, changed the account PINs and withdrew cash from ATMs with which he bought goods from stores in the Idaho area.
Sinzu, whose music career has taken a nosedive over the past years, was arrested as he was about to board an aeroplane. It was gathered that the police found a card encoding device and more than $6,000 on him.
According to Idaho Statesman, the rapper was charged with conspiracy to commit bank fraud, eight counts each of bank fraud and aggravated identity theft and possession of several fraudulent bank cards.
For example, I know that 2Baba has two nightclubs in Lagos namely; Rumors Nightclub - Festac Town and Victoria Island. He also has investments in property and other types of businesses. His business managers are wise to advise him on investments and how to invest.
If 2Face no longer performs music due to old age, lack of further interest in music or physical incapacity, his future is secured because he has investments to keep him going.
Once your songs become hits and you make lots of money, remember to save and invest in businesses that you know you are interested in and that will yield adequate return on investment. Do not put all your eggs in one basket.
In foreign countries, celebrities like Robert Matthew Van Winkle, better known as Vanilla Ice, a rapper, began renovating and flipping homes and now teaches classes on real estate investing. His show “Vanilla Ice Project” is in its fifth season, a hot show for the DIY Network, flipping and pimping out mansions in his hometown of Palm Beach for the wealthy and well-to-do. The “Ice Ice Baby” crooner also happens to have a book, “Get Rich Flipping Houses.”
My advice to you is to go to a higher institution; polytechnic or university or any institution where you can acquire knowledge to help you in both your music and other business careers.
Employ the services of a business manager (accountant) who will guide you on how to manage your resources, income and expenses. Your accountant will let you know when it is okay to buy a new car or when and how to invest in a new business.
My sources of income come from musical performances (solo, DJ, band), sale of drums, teaching drums and writing (script, copy, business, blogging). If the worst happens, I will go back to my accounting career.
By God's grace, I will not go broke or involve myself in fraud, stealing or kidnapping because if one door closes, another door will definitely open.
Follow your passion, never rely on one source of income and spend wisely.
